Is there truly a culprit? If so, I feel for you :) Stealing books is a crime close to that of starving orphans or mangling cats.

Turns out my books and notepad were "moved to a better place", the bottom of the bookcase behind the door in the living room. AKA the place no-one in their right mind looks at.
I'll get the tar and feathers ready!

I get that all the time - I'm going to start glueing things to tables just to stop this happening.
It might mean that I can't use them but at least I know where they are.
